What do you think of this?
“The betrothed and accepted lover has lost the wildest charms of his maiden by her acceptance. She was heaven while he pursued her, but she cannot be heaven if she stoops to one such as he!”

Re: Interesting quote up for interpretation
Wed, February 25, 2009 - 11:10 AMAnd they say women overanalyze. ;) Syndrome has happened a lot to me. The minute I say, "Yes, I like you too." I come face to face with a creature who is rude and callous. Apparently, I'm only beautiful, smart, funny and interesting if I haven't fallen for anyone. Interesting, that.
If I were to analyze, I'd go one of two ways:
1. Most men are deeply insecure due to the culture of excessive womanly praise to the detriment of extolling male virtues. They are taught to never discuss feelings or thoughts on feelings, and therefore have no way to express (and therefore learn about) their issues, resulting in the abrupt refusal of affection, leaving the woman confused and hurt. She may pressure the fellow for information or for the affection he previously bestowed upon her, which brings the insecurities even closer to the surface, resulting at the peak, of the man dumping the woman. Once the woman is well out of his life, he can resume fantasizing about her, secretly considering her, 'the one'.
2. Boys can be stupid.

Re: Interesting quote up for interpretation
Wed, February 25, 2009 - 5:24 PMIt could just be some fancy shmancy way to try and say it's all about the chase. The playing hard to get thing. ya know? Once you give in it's no longer the excitement and charm of the pursuit.
